Beating the Winter Blues with a Fake Tan

England 16/1/2013 – An awful summer has lead to a surprising bonus for the beauty industry

It seems that having a fake tan is very popular, in the UK and beyond. Several celebrities at the Golden globes were sporting them including Kelly Osbourne and Sienna Miller. The awful UK weather meant that they needed to top up their natural colour to avoid looking like ghosts.

Amy Poehler, Connie Britton and Anna Gun are also have rumoured to have visited a tanning specialist before their appearances on the red carpet. Lea Michele also appears to have done so, but some pundits felt she had got her tan wrong, and criticised her for looking orange.

However, fresh tans have not only been on display on the red carpet. TOWIE star Maria Fowler recently posted a naked picture of herself on Twitter to show off her new tan, applied by a friend, at home. She had not gone overboard and had a lovely healthy look, which would have been impossible with outdoor tanning.

The weather, in the UK, has been the worst in decades. Unbelievably, the year started with a drought, and in March, there were record levels of sunshine. Everyone believed that they were in for a scorching summer. In fact, many parts of the UK were in for the wettest summer on record. With very little sunshine and no cash to get away to the sun for a couple of weeks, Brits turned to home tanning products and tanning salons.

Brits are expert home tanners
Many Brits are in the habit of topping up their tan to give themselves a healthy glow. For special occasions such as parties, weddings or a big day out like Goodwood they will go to a salon. However, a lot will also use home tanning products and produce good results when they do so. For firms like Beau Bronz this is very good news indeed. They have seen demand for their products and services grow and grow, in the UK. By running tanning salons and sell high quality tanning products, they are able to benefit from growth in both the home tanning and saloon applied tan markets.
