MELBOURNE TO SPONSOR BIG CHIP AWARDS 2011

17 February 2011- Melbourne Server Hosting has been unveiled as the headline sponsor of this year’s Big Chip Awards. The event, which is hailed as ‘the biggest celebration of digital excellence outside of London’, takes place on 16 June 2011.

The Manchester-based independent server hosting provider, which is also sponsoring the individual award for Best Application of Technology, has already stamped its mark on the North West creative sector after winning 30 digital, design and marketing clients in the last six months. The company has a strong relationship with the event, having scooped the Big Green Chip Award for its environmental initiatives in 2009.

Daniel Keighron-Foster, managing director of Melbourne, said: “We’re thrilled to be involved with this year’s Big Chip Awards – even more so as it’s the first time the event has extended its reach to cover the whole of the North of England. This is an exciting time for the digital sector and we look forward to celebrating the innovation and creativity that makes this industry so special.”

The Big Chips are run by, and for, the industry by trade association, Manchester Digital, which works with partners including Codeworks, Liverpool Vision and the Manchester Digital Development Agency.

Speaking of the partnership, Shaun Fensom, head of Manchester Digital, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Melbourne on board as headline sponsor. Melbourne has shown its support for the digital sector in the North West since 2009 and it will play an important role in this year’s event.

“Big Chip is one of the biggest events of its kind and this is will be the most important year yet, as we open up all categories to companies across the North of England.”

Established in 2000, Melbourne provides dedicated, cloud and colocation server support for a range of clients in the IT, creative and digital sectors. Launched by 28-year-old entrepreneur Keighron-Foster whilst still at university – the company is one of the only hosting specialists in the North West to own and operate its own data centres.
