Private Kilimanjaro Comments as Motivated Mum Joins Kilimanjaro Challenge

Staffordshire, United Kingdom (13th June, 2012) – Private Kilimanjaro, a leading, expert provider of private and group climbs up Mount Kilimanjaro, comments as Hazel Frost prepares to undergo her own Kilimanjaro Charity Challenge.

Hazel Frost lost her 18-year-old son Darren on Boxing Day 2009 in a cycling accident. Since then, she has been dedicating her efforts to raising money to build a skate park in his memory. Her latest feat will be to carry the Olympic Torch on its relay through her local town, followed by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Hazel commented: “My friends, family and more importantly Darren’s friends have all given me so much support that I wanted to give something back and allow people who knew my son to be able to remember him the way he would have wanted.”

The first skate park in memory of Darren was opened in 2011, and Hazel has since continued her fundraising efforts to build a second skate park in Bangor, scheduled to be built in August this year.

Hazel has also been nominated to partake in the Olympic Torch relay through Bangor. Following this potential achievement, Hazel has arranged to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. She will set off with her friend Emma Wynne-Hughes on Saturday July 28th to take on the 5,895 metre-high challenge.

Jane Deakin of Private Kilimanjaro commented: “I remember Hazel’s first phone call enquiring about her Kilimanjaro climb and hearing the harrowing story of the loss of her son: her motivation and inspiration for the climb. Climbing Kilimanjaro will be very special for her and we are very proud to be helping her in her Charity Challenge.”
