Belfast, Ireland (February 11, 2010) – Kelsius, a leading provider of web-based monitoring and alarming solutions for the Food, Pharmaceutical and Healthcare sectors, has been chosen by three major NHS Foundation Trust Hospitals to implement their market-leading solutions.
The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust is deploying the Kelsius solution in the Leeds General Infirmary, Chapel Allerton Hospital and Wharfedale Hospital. The Trust employs over 14,000 staff across eight sites and treats around one-million patients each year. It also acts as a regional centre for a number of specialist disciplines including cancer and cardiac surgery.
North Bristol NHS Trust is one of the largest trusts in England and delivers care to a population of over 500,000 people, mainly in South Gloucestershire and the city of Bristol, and also provides regional services for a much wider area. The Trust chose the Kelsius solution after a rigorous European tender evaluation process. The Kelsius solution will be deployed throughout all Pathology labs in its new build Southmead Hospital. The Trust favoured Kelsius due to its wide range of functionality and the benefits of Kelsius’s Software as a Service.
The Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is deploying the Kelsius solution throughout 13 departments in its new teaching hospital. The hospital is the regional centre for kidney and pancreas transplants, haematology and sickle cell disease. The Heart Centre is a major provider of cardiac services in the region, specialising in cardiothoracic surgery and cardiology. The Kelsius solution will be deployed over a large geographical area incorporating 13 departments giving the trust complete visibility of all monitoring points with the vital information being accessed from anywhere in the trust via the Kelsius web Portal.
Les Curran, Chief Executive of Kelsius, said: “To win three consecutive European tenders is an endorsement of our market leadership position in wireless temperature monitoring. The Healthcare sector is quickly realising the proven advantages of our cold chain portal in helping to protect the integrity of products.”
Kelsius offers a number of advantages of major significance. No drilling of walls is required for cabling, and the vital information can be accessed from anywhere via the Internet. Additionally, the individual Trust’s busy IT Departments do not need to maintain the system, nor will they have to purchase any additional PCs or Servers. This is a major advantage in today’s economic climate. The quality of the technology, an extensive product roadmap plus ease of deployment and usability were seen as highly advantageous by each of the three hospital Trusts.
