JAM RECRUITMENT EXPANDS IMMIGRATION TEAM

JAM Recruitment has expanded its dedicated immigration team to meet increasing demand from large professional services organisations to recruit immigration specialists to deliver their corporate immigration strategies.

The launch follows the increase in demand following introduction of the immigration cap in 2011 which has made it more difficult and costly for firms to deploy skilled workers from around the globe in the UK.

The team will work alongside JAM’s wider global mobility division which was established in 2004 and has seen the firm significantly increase its presence in the expatriate management market.

The focus of the team will be identifying and recruiting professionals with specialist expertise in immigration and tax law and the processes involved in relocating skilled individuals.

Matthew Reaney, director at JAM Recruitment, said: “The shortage of professionals in the most in-demand skills areas – particularly those in the science and technology arena – is a well-known barrier to growth for many UK businesses.

“An increasingly common approach is for managers to broaden their search to include candidates from overseas.

“It is clearly essential that companies comply with UK legislation from both an immigration standpoint – which has become more of a challenge for many businesses since the introduction of the immigration cap – and with regard to tax regulations.

“Any mishandling can result in significant delays or, in the worst scenarios, incur fines and even legal proceedings.

“Dedicating a team of recruiters who specialise in these niche areas will allow us to provide further support and advice to the global mobility and immigration industry and the industries that support it, ensuring that global organisations can continue to transfer highly skilled labour and, ultimately, keep driving the economy.

“In a recent GM survey, over 80 per cent of school children thought that their future job would see them working abroad in later life – a strong demonstration of the globalised economy and an indication that the global mobility industry is only going to go from strength to strength.”
