Vietnam Roadshow Sets Scene for Largest in-cosmetics Asia Show Yet

Surrey, UK (4th October, 2012) – A taster exhibition led by in-cosmetics Asia secured attendance from leading cosmetic brands including: Colgate Palmolive, Estee Lauder, LG, Procter & Gamble, Rohto Mentholatum, Green Cross and ICP Corporation – part of the Marico Group – India. Top local brands including Saigon Cosmetics, Lana Cosmetics, My Hao, Thorakao, Rang Dong S.P.C.A, Dong A, VietCan, Gia Dinh and Vietcos also attended.

The Capturing New Products and Trends roadshow was organised in partnership with the Cosmetic Chemical Association (CCA) in Vietnam – with the support of the Vietnamese Cosmetic Committee (VCC) – to deliver a taster exhibition ahead of in-cosmetics Asia’s main show in Bangkok.

With almost 200 delegates in attendance, the roadshow provided a small snapshot into the wealth of knowledge and product innovation on offer at the in-cosmetics Asia show, which will take place from 6 to 8 November 2012.

The one-day roadshow – which attracted the attention of Vietnamese TV – took place at Hotel Nikko in Ho Chi Minh City on 23 August 2012, and provided attendees with the chance to learn more about the latest in personal care product ingredients and trends in the sector. There were presentations and seminars throughout the day from leading companies, such as Lubrizol, ActivON, Nikko Chemicals, Brenntag (for Avenacare) as well as in-cosmetics Asia.

Feedback from the roadshow was extremely encouraging, with 96% of delegates reporting they were either very, or completely, satisfied with the show.

Mrs Nguyen Kim Thoa, Director of Saigon Cosmetics said: “The event has helped us recognize opportunities and challenges for the Vietnamese cosmetic industry. It has also given us ideas on how to market our products and we’re very much looking forward to the next roadshow in Vietnam!”

Key presentations included a session from keynote speaker Le Chau Giang (Vice President of CTFAS) on ‘Opportunities and Challenges for the Vietnamese Cosmetic Industry within the Global Economy’, focusing on infrastructure, know-how, product quality, safety and legislation for the estimated 430 small and medium size cosmetic companies based in Vietnam.

Also included were sessions on Global Consumer Trends (by Lubrizol Personal Care), Korean Cosmetic Trends (by ActivON), Calpain inhibitor UJI TEA EXTRACT focusing on Calpain, a calcium-dependent protein that plays a major role in the ageing process (by Nikko Chemicals).

Companies who appeared as tabletop exhibitors at the roadshow also included Behn Meyer, Kao and Nardev Chemie.

Sarah Gibson, in-cosmetics Asia Exhibition Director said: “The roadshow has been invaluable in providing delegates with a unique insight into just some of the aspects of what we have to present at in-cosmetics Asia. The roadshow has certainly generated huge interest from attendees and we hope to be welcoming many of them to the show in Bangkok in November.”

The Vietnam Roadshow was supported by The Thai Convention & Exhibition Bureau and by Personal Care Magazine, the event’s official media partner.
