England 18/09/2012 – Always personal have seen demand for their soft furnishing items rise steadily
It would seem that traditional gifts are once again back in vogue. A good example of this are personalised cushions from Always Personal they have always sold relatively well, but recently demand has increased. To some extent, this has been a result of the firm’s marketing campaigns, which have featured personalised cushions. However, there is some evidence that this is not the whole reason.
Over the years, there has been a tendency for consumers to give frivolous gifts instead of more traditional practical gifts. People got caught up in the fun element of novelty gifts and automatically turned to them as a source of gifts. However, there are only so many times you can give someone a gift like a pair of Bugs Bunny socks that go ‘wha’s up doc’ every step the wearer takes.
Eventually the jokes wear thin and the funny, but impractical pressies just end up in the back of a drawer or cupboard. Whilst people will continue to buy a few of these gifts, for now they have had their day. Money is tight, so you want to give someone a gift they can actually use.
The personalised gift industry has done very well from this change in consumer attitude. They sell practical everyday items that can be personalised to turn what could be considered quite a mundane item into a special one.
Camera phones have played a part
In most cases, gifts are personalised by adding something like a photo or a special personalised message. The prevalence of camera phones and digital cameras means that people have hundreds of photos they can use to personalise a gift. In many cases, those photos are of special occasions, which the giver and the receiver of the gift both want to remember.
Always Personal sells a range of personalised cushions and other items. They sell their cushions to people as wedding, christening, anniversary, engagement and birthday gifts. Increasingly, customers are buying them to finish off a room or make one more cosy and homely.
